Maleta de cabina

Discurso inspirador de J. K. Rowling, autora de Harry Potter, a los estudiantes de Harvard en el comienzo del curso 2008/2009:

Failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me. Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena where I believed I truly belonged. I was set free, because my greatest fear had been realised, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.

You might never fail on the scale I did, but some failure in life is inevitable. It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default.

Failure gave me an inner security that I had never attained by passing examinations. Failure taught me things about myself that I could have learned no other way.

Hay personas 'corcho' y personas 'plomo': las primeras te sacan a flote, las segundas te hunden.

Feelings up

One more depending on a prayer and we all look away
People pretending everywhere; it's just another day
There's bullets flying through the air and they still carry on
We watch it happen over there and then just turn it off
They tell us everything's alright and we just go along
How can we fall asleep at night when something's clearly wrong?
When we could feed a starving world with what we throw away
But all we serve are empty words that always taste the same
The right thing to guide us is right here, inside us
No one can divide us when the light is leading on
But just like a heartbeat the drumbeat carries on

We must stand together
There's no giving in
Hand in hand forever
That's when we all win
That's, that's, that's when we all win

Abordando ideales

Rick Falkvinge, who found Swedish Pirate Party in 2006, explained last March:

"If the politicians of today see the entire growin-up generation as a problem, then maybe is the politicians who are the problem"

"When push comes to shove, you gotta do what you love, even when it's not a good idea" (quoting Futurama)

"If it's stupid but works, it ain't stupid"

"Your worst adversaries aren't evil, and trying to portray them as such does not help your cause. But it does something else: it defines you"

"Whether you believe that you can or cannot make a difference is a matter of attitude. And in both cases, you're probably right"

"Change doesn't just happen. Somebody makes it happen"
